Redmoor Critical Minerals: UK Shared Prosperity Fund

Cornwall Resources deliver regional growth through investment in UK Critical Minerals Project

CRL Receive £762k from UK Shared Prosperity Fund

Cornwall Resources Limited (CRL) have received £762k funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, unlocking £1.52m investment to deliver regional growth in East Cornwall. The funding is being used to develop the Redmoor Critical Minerals project: a mineral exploration project improving our understanding of the unexploited tungsten, tin and copper georesource at Redmoor.
This project delivers on the UK Government’s Critical Minerals Strategy by investigating the potential to strengthen the UK’s domestic supply of critical raw materials; rebuilding skills in the mining and minerals sector, and accelerating a circular economy of critical minerals.

Previously, CRL have successfully completed two drilling campaigns and associated work programs, delivering two mineral resource estimates and producing a Scoping Study, which highlighted the following results:
1.    There is a globally significant inferred tungsten-tin-copper georesource at Kelly Bray
2.    The potential resource is high grade (1.17% Tin equivalent in 11.7 million tons of ore).
3.    This creates potential for a mine with 10+ year life, with scope to more than double this through further exploration.
4.    Attractive economic upside once in development
5.    Significant potential to provide c.200 direct mining jobs.

Funding received will support further exploration to validate and expand upon these findings. To achieve this,  a new drilling program has been launched, extracting c.5000m of rock core from June-December 2025. The programe has already created five new, high-value, permanent jobs in Kelly Bray, and the geological information will help advance CRL towards a pre-feasibility study - the next phase in mine development.
In addition to improving the economics of future mining, the match grant funding has also enabled significant organisational development, allowing CRL to enhance the social, environmental and economic sustainability of their operations. New junior geologist and geo-technician roles have already improved gender parity within the organisation, helping to address typically poor inclusion of women in the mining and minerals sector. The newly hired Sustainability Manager will oversee the development and implementation of a new sustainability strategy, as well as reducing CRL’s carbon emissions and developing community relations.
It is expected that through this project, potential significant new finance will be unlocked to continue Redmoor through its development stages towards mining and the future creation of a successful critical mineral producer in South East Cornwall.

Update: Summer 2025
With all new staff now in post, progress towards delivering the Shared Prosperity Fund objectives has begun. This summer, drilling began at CRL’s site in Kelly Bray, east Cornwall. The drill team have made excellent progress so far, with hopes for completion ahead of schedule. CRL’s geology team are currently processing and analysing the core samples, which will be mapped digitally to produce an estimated resource model.

With increasing quantities of core samples held by CRL, plans are underway to improve and expand core processing and storage facilities, including the creation of a dedicated core cutting room. These upgrades will improve overall operational efficiency, saving staff time.
